How to Pay for a Remitly Transfer with Apple Pay in New Zealand

Paying for your Remitly transfer just got simpler. With Apple Pay now available in New Zealand, you can send money to the people who matter most. Securely, privately, and in just a few taps. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

How to Pay for a Remitly Transfer with Apple Pay in New Zealand

Sending money overseas from New Zealand should be simple. If you use an Apple device, you can now pay for your Remitly transfers with Apple Pay. It’s a fast, secure payment option that keeps your card details private every time you send.

Whether you’re supporting whānau abroad or helping cover everyday expenses for someone you love, Apple Pay makes the payment step easier than ever. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

What Is Apple Pay, and Why Does It Matter for Remitly Customers in New Zealand?

Apple Pay is a digital payment method built into your Apple device. Instead of typing in your card number each time, you simply authorise a payment using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

When you pay for a Remitly transfer with Apple Pay, your actual card number is never shared with Remitly. Apple generates a unique, one-time code for each transaction and sends that to Remitly instead. Your card details stay where they belong, with you.

For anyone sending money internationally, that kind of privacy and security makes a real difference.

How to Pay for a Remitly Transfer with Apple Pay: Step by Step

Once you’ve confirmed you’re all set up, the payment process is straightforward. Here’s how it works:

  1. Download or Open the Remitly app. Sign in to your account, or create a new account.
  2. Start a new transfer and enter the amount you want to send.
  3. Choose Express as your delivery speed if you’re prompted to select one.

  5. Select Apple Pay on the payment method screen.
  6. Tap Continue or Set up Apple Pay depending on what appears on your screen.
  7. Review your transfer details and double-check the amount, recipient, and delivery information. When you’re satisfied everything is correct, tap the Apple Pay or Set up Apple Pay button at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Your Apple Wallet will open automatically.
    • If your debit card is already saved and eligible, follow the prompts to authorize with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
    • If you haven’t added your card yet, tap the (+) button, enter your card details, and then confirm your payment.
  9. Return to the Remitly app and tap Apple Pay to finalize. If you just added a new card, you’ll briefly return to Apple Wallet to authorize, then come back to the app automatically.
  10. Wait on the processing screen until your transfer is confirmed. Once it’s through, you’re done.

The whole process takes just a few minutes and once your card is saved in Apple Wallet, future transfers are even faster.
