    Select Get Started or Send Money on the Remitly app or Send money if you’re using Remitly on your web browser.
     
    Enter the amount of money you’d like to send in Australian dollars. We’ll automatically display the amount your recipient will receive in Indian rupees.
     
    When you enter the amount of money you’d like to send in Australian dollars to India, you’ll be able to view the delivery options that are available and choose the option that’s right for you and your recipient.
     
    Now choose your delivery method. Check with the person who you’re sending money to in India and find out how they’d like to receive their money.

    If you select Bank Deposit as your delivery method to India, you’ll need to enter information about your recipient’s bank account.

    Next, enter your recipient’s full name. Check with your recipient that the name you entered matches the name on their ID.
     
    If you chose Cash Pickup as your delivery method and you want us to send your recipient a text message when their money arrives at the pickup location, add your recipient’s mobile phone number.
     
    If you chose a different delivery option, we might ask for your recipient’s email address or address details.
     
    Now, enter your name exactly as it appears on your valid ID. We’ll also ask for your phone number and address.
     
    Next, enter your date of birth. It’s important that you enter your correct birthdate as it appears on your identification, because we may need that information to verify your identity later.
     
    Now it’s time to choose how you’d like to pay for your money transfer to India. Enter your bank account information, your credit or debit card information, or the details of another payment method.
     
    Your payment options may vary depending on where you’re sending from. You can always update your payment method for future transfers.
     
    Check your transfer summary to make sure everything is correct. You’ll see all the details you just entered and the estimated arrival date.
     
    If you need to make any changes, just select Edit next to the info you want to update, and you’ll be able to change or correct that detail.
     
    When you’re ready to send your money transfer to India, select Send Money.

If you didn’t receive a text message from Remitly, ask your sender to share the reference number.
 
If you’re receiving your transfer at a cash pickup location, you’ll need the transfer reference number to collect your money.

Which debit or credit cards can I use to pay for my money transfer to India?

If you want to use a debit or credit cards for your money transfer to India, your card must have the following details:
 
  • The name given on the debit or credit card must match the name given on your Remitly profile.
  • A valid expiration date. Generally, a card is valid up to the end of last day of the month in which it expires. If your card has an expiration date of 12/25, then it is valid up to December 31 2025.
  • The debit or credit must have a CVV or CVC (a three- or four-digit number on the back of the card).
     
    We accept Visa or Mastercard debit or credit cards in Australia and all other sending countries.
     
    You can also use Maestro cards in the European Union and U.K. and prepaid debit cards in the U.S., European Union, U.K., Canada, and Australia.
     
    You may also be able to use an Interac card if you’re in Canada, as long as it’s co-branded with the Mastercard or Visa logo and has an expiration date and a CVV or CVC.
     
    Additional fees might apply if you use a credit card. Some credit card companies and banks may charge additional processing fees because transfers are considered cash withdrawals.
