What is a CLABE number?

A CLABE number is a banking standard in Mexico that was implemented in the year 2004. It is an 18 digit account number that replaces the traditional bank account number in Mexico. The 18 digit CLABE number is made up of:

  • 3 Digit Bank Code
  • 3 Digit Branch Office Code
  • 11 Digit Account Number
  • 1 Digit Control Digit

A CLABE number can be obtained by contacting your bank. Please note that not all of our banks require a CLABE number. The banks that do not require a CLABE number are:

  • Bancomer
  • Banorte
  • Bancoppel
  • Banco Azteca
